The École nationale supérieure d’architecture de Paris-la Villette offers many opportunities for international experience, as varied in form as in subject and destination.
The aim of these activities is not so much to test the exotic differences of other contexts. On the contrary, it’s more a question of highlighting the similarities and commonalities between the issues covered by today’s architectural discipline, and of meeting together the challenges facing future professionals.
An international outlook throughout the curriculum
- In the Bachelor’s program, the entire L1 class takes part in a study trip abroad.
- In the Master’s program, the school offers each student a unique opportunity to experience an international context. This can be achieved in a variety of ways: through a study stay abroad as part of exchange agreements with foreign partner institutions, through a compulsory internship abroad, or through participation in an international workshop.
Numerous and active international cooperations
International cooperation is a fundamental aspect of ENSA de Paris-la Villette’s school project, which positions it as an international school.
The school maintains relations with more than 120 academic partners in 50 countries, notably in Asia, Latin America, Europe and the Mediterranean region.
These relations are formalized:
- through bilateral agreements signed as part of the European Union’s Erasmus+ programs or outside Erasmus+ programs;
- multilateral agreements.

ENSA Paris-la Villette is a holder of the European Commission’s Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) 2021-2027, and is therefore eligible to apply for international projects under the Erasmus + programs from 2021 to 2027.
The school submits grant applications at every opportunity, in order to be able to award scholarships to students wishing to spend time abroad (study stays, internships or international workshops). It also organizes teaching and training exchanges for its teaching and administrative staff, with financial support from the Erasmus+ program.
The implementation of all these international actions is made possible, on the one hand, by European funds granted under the Erasmus+ programs, and, on the other hand, by the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and, for international workshops, by local authorities in the places where they take place.
