The post-master’s program Recherches en architecture (Research in architecture) is a post-graduate program designed to prepare students for enrolment in a doctorate in architecture, and/or to instill new questions in the practice of architecture, urban planning and landscape design.
The program is designed as an introductory year to research: during the course, students immerse themselves in a research unit to develop their own issues and reflections.

The course is open to :
- qualified architects in France and abroad;
- Holders of a Master’s degree (with honors) or an equivalent diploma in space-related subjects;
- Master’s students (architecture or other) subject to current degree.
Foreign students must take a knowledge test to prove they have a certain level of French (see “Level of French” tab below).
The post-master’s program is organized over a 34-week academic year, with one day a week (Friday) from 9:30 am to 7 pm.
A workroom on the site of the six ENSAPLV research teams (AHTTEP, AMP, GERPHAU, LAA-LAVUE, LET-LAVUE and MAP-MAACC) is reserved exclusively for post-master’s students, so that they can take full advantage of their immersion in the world of research and rub shoulders with researchers. This room enables them to complete the “Laboratories” part of their training.
The 220h annual course (60 ECTS) is divided into two parts:
- The first, collective part, entitled “Common Core”, comprises 60 hours of teaching (15 ECTS);
- A second part is handled by each research unit. This part, entitled “Immersion in the laboratory“, includes 160 hours of supervision and the production of an end-of-year dissertation (45 ECTS).
